FactCheck for X is a browser extension designed to provide in-context fact-checking and evidence retrieval for public posts on X (Twitter). We believe in privacy by design and data minimization.
The extension only activates when you explicitly click the "Fact-check this post" button on a public post:
host_permissions (x.com, twitter.com): Required solely to read the public text of the tweet you choose to verify and render the inline verdict card. The extension never inspects other websites or unselected elements.host_permissions (*.run.app, localhost): Required to send verification requests and receive real-time streaming evidence from the FactCheck backend.storage: Used locally in your browser to remember your chosen API endpoint (e.g. Cloud Run or local server). We do not sell, rent, or monetize user data. Public claim text is checked against web search engines (e.g. Tavily, Brave, DuckDuckGo) and verified using inference providers solely to retrieve evidence citations.
Requests are processed in real time. We do not store personal profiles, user identity records, or search histories. Anonymous verification cache entries expire after 24 hours.
